Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any questions or need clarification on anything SwitchID related, please contact us.
-
What is the best way to apply SwitchIDs?SwitchIDs should be applied after thoroughly cleaning the switch plate or the decor switch (to remove dirt and/or oil residue). Position the SwitchID, firmly press down, and do not clean for 2 days. For more information, please check this Installation Video.
-
What is the best way to remove SwitchIDs?Use a non-sharp tool or butter knife that would not damage / scratch the switch plate or decor switch to get under the SwitchID. For more information, please check this Removal Video.
-
Can I re-apply a SwitchID after I previously removed it?No. We strongly recommend against re-applying the SwitchID. The adhesive is not designed for multiple uses.
-
What is the best way to select the right color SwitchIDs?Glow-In-The-Dark is a very distinct color and is not meant to match an existing switch plate. Please note that every switch plate manufacturer's version of almond and ivory might differ slightly. Generally speaking, ivory has a slight tint of yellow, while almond has more of a grey-tan-bone color. We used "Pass & Seymore" and "Leviton" switch plate examples and worked with our manufacturer using Spectrum Analysis to match the SwitchID colors to those plates.
-
Is it possible to custom-label SwitchIDs for my business?Yes. Please Contact Us for more information.
-
Is it possible to have different SwitchID designs?Yes. We can create SwitchIDs in any size, any color, any shape, and any design. This might be of interest if you, for example, operate a commercial facility. Contact Us so that we can start the conversation.
-
What is the size of the SwitchIDs?SwitchIDs are 0.86' x 0.86', or 2.2 cm x 2.2 cm for our international friends.
-
Can there be a blank SwitchID where I can draw on it myself? We did some testing and nothing sticks to the clear doming material, not even sharpies. So, because the ink would eventually rub off on you, we decided against adding a blank SwitchID.
-
What happens if the SwitchIDs are exposed to heat or cold?SwitchIDs should not be exposed to temperatures outside of - 40° F (- 40°C) to 140° F (60° C). Outside of this range the adhesive will not work well. Exposure to extreme humidity will also negatively affect the adhesive. In both cases, the adhesive will work well again after the temperature / humidity returns to recommended levels. Minimum application temperature is 50° F (10° C).
-
Can I use SwitchIDs outside?SwitchIDs are UV resistant, but depending on where you live, temperature or humidity might affect the performance of the SwitchIDs. Please see above.
-
Where are SwitchIDs produced?SwitchIDs are produced in the greater Milwaukee, WI area by a world-class producer of label products. SwitchIDs are truly a high-quality product enhancement to your home.
-
Where are SwitchID orders fulfilled and shipped?SwitchIDs are fulfilled and shipped via the Workforce Development Program of one of our strategic partners, the Easter Seals of Southeast Wisconsin. We encourage you to check out this organization's website to learn more about their mission.
